Welcome to our Sealed Bids Auction

You can make sealed bids on these items any time before the shown expiry. Sealed bids are bids that that no-one else can see. At the expiry date, the person who placed the highest bid wins. Simple!

You need to create an account to bid - only takes a minute or so, we'll verify your details, then you can place bids.

This is our third sealed bids auction. Previous ones went without a single hitch, but if you encounter any glitches etc., let us know any error message you get on screen, and/or what you were trying to do at the time. Contact us here Thanks!

Voltini's Electric Sideshow Frontage
Built by Peter Fleet, painted by Carters.
Stands some 32 feet wide by 12 feet 6 inches high (plus another 20 inches for the 'V' and curved lighting sprays which we can't quite fit on top of the pillars inside the Elephant House).
The bottom shutters are 4 seperate panels for easy travelling, and the paybox easily dismantles and packs flat.

This lot being offered for sale is for the frame, arched top sign, bottom painted panels, the lovely paybox and the lighting sprays. All in excellent condition.
The tent and Madam Electra banners have already been sold prior to the showfront arriving here.

Complete Roll-Down Roundstall / Hoopla
a lovely example, which until recently travelled with Carter's Steam Fair - being one of the first stalls that joined the fair around 40 years ago.
12ft diameter bottom, 8 sections, in lovely old show paint featuring Mercury heads to the bottom shutters and flowers on the trellises. The unusual half-round uprights have a monogram of "SW or WS". There are light fittings to the bottom of the trellises, and a 'spider' in the roof - lighting battens that go from each upright to the centre. Comes with an relatively new high quality Regentex canvas top tilt in red and yellow.
Comes with complete set of roll down boards, in excellent condition. One of the bottom shutters has a door for easy access to the centre for the operator when used with the roll down boards, or obviously the stall could be used with any other traditional round stall game.
All in all a very nice stall that deserves to be preserved as a whole, hopefully back in operation travelling with a vintage fair or in a museum, rather than breaking up for the artwork - which we really don't want to do!

Rare Square Fairground Stall
This rare 12 foot 6 inches square base stall is in overall good sound condition, having had 2 new corner pillars made to match the originals. It is all complete in terms of woodwork, but needs repainting. There's no top tilt, but we can put you in touch with good reliable maufacturers.
Good strong design, can be built without one of the bottom panels, for a walk-in stall, where it would be ideal for use as a Vintage Arcade stall, with machines inside and out.

Unique Art Deco All-Aluminium Hoopla Stall
We've never seen another like this... nor it seems has anyone else!

Thought to have been built in the late 1930's, early 1940's by either Rytecraft or Supercar, who both built fairground equipment in aluminium.

The construction is of all riveted aluminium sections and panels, with hollow hexagonal uprights, with the sunburst designs on the bottom shutters and top trellises being seperate layers of different colour anodised aluminium pieces.
Although the uprights are currently painted in red, it can be seen that they were originally shiny gold anodised, and it appears the paint would easily strip off again. Similarly the background cream colour to the shutters and rounding boards is a later overpaint - appears to have originally been plain silver aluminium. Must have been a dazzling stall when it was new!

The stall is not complete, but does in fact have some extra straight rounding boards, indicating that it could originally have been a dreadnought stall (double-ended D shape) - which were often used as Arcade stalls, with machines around the inside and outside of the end 'D's, with the flat middle sides open to allow people to walk through.
The size of the bottom shutters indicate it would make a standard 8-section 12ft round stall.

What we have for sale:
6 x bottom shutters
10 x top trellises
8 x uprights
10 x curved rounding boards
4 x straight rounding boards
So with a little work, you could make a nice smaller 6-section stall by just adding the top roof components, or with a bit more work make 2 more bottom shutters for an 8-section stall.

This is a very interesting piece - a unique survivor, and it would be great for someone to restore it to it's former glory, to make the ultimate Art Deco round stall that would surely out-dazzle everything else on the fairground if all the shiny anodised finishes were cleaned up.
Don't miss it!

Large Quantity Fairground Lighting
This lot comprises of red and yellow cabochon lights mounted on gold anodised aluminium channels, and were removed from an Eli Bridge Big Wheel.
There are:
24 lengths at 128 inches, with 40 light fittings each
6 lengths at 98 inches, with 28 lights fittings each
That gives a total length of approx 5708 inches, which is around 475 feet or 145 metres, with 1128 fittings.
There are a few odd caps missing, but the strips are largely complete, nice and straight, and in reasonably good condition, just rather grubby from storage.
Given this is such a big lot, if you are interested in a smaller quantity please contact us with an offer, and if 2 or more people are interested in splitting the lot we can look at doing that.
